GLADSTONE ENVIRONMENTAL WALKS
A group of Macleay Landcare volunteers is improving degraded native vegetation sites towards to East of the Gladstone township along the sides of public laneways.
INTRODUCTION
Laneways to the East of Gladstone provide degraded habitat for fauna and flora. A Macleay Landcare Volunteer Group is restoring and extending on this habitat with the view over many years of making it an environment that locals, visitors and fauna can enjoy.
AIMS
The aim is to rehabilitate existing areas of vegetation and extend on these areas on public laneways towards the East of Gladstone township. A master plan is to be developed and advertised through Council for public input.
GOALS
One of the group's goal is to set up signage and advertise the walks and push bike tracks for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike.
OUR ACTIVITIES
A working bee is held on the third Saturday of every month at 9am.
Meet at the Tennis Courts on the corner of Barnard and Macleay Streets before moving to the rehabilitation areas.
Activities include plantings, watering and weeding of plants and controlling the massive amounts of weeds.
